Tai Chi- January Term

Originally a Chinese martial art, Tai Chi is now practiced for its health benefits. This gentle exercise emphasizes relaxation, balance, and coordination. In this course, students having participated in Tai Chi previously, will have the opportunity to continue practicing the Yang-style short form consisting of 12 postures. These postures can be performed in 2 minutes to increase balance through concentrated movement. This traditional mind-body exercise can inspire an enhanced sense of self-awareness. 5 sessions Winter Term

Tai Chi- Continuing Study

This class is for students who wish to continue their study beyond the beginners class. It covers the entire Cheng Man-Ching tai chi form, with emphasis on developing a deeper understanding of the tai chi principles and the mind-body connection. Students will also be introduced to sensing hands (tui shou), a two-person exercise designed to help the students cultivate a deeper understanding of tai chi principles and practice. Note - this class is designed for those students interested in a longer-term commitment to tai chi study. It will take more than one semester to learn the basics of the entire tai chi form. 10 sessions
